A brief overview of Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease Liver Transplant Surgery in India is usually done as a life-saving procedure, and involves removing part or all of the diseased liver and replacing it with a healthy one. Common reasons why one may require this surgery includes alcoholic liver disease, cancers that start in the liver, fatty liver disease and cirrhosis caused by chronic hepatitis C. Patients with acute liver failure may also require a transplant. During a Liver Transplant in India, your surgeon would: • Make an incision in your abdomen • Cut off the blood vessels to the diseased liver • Remove the diseased liver and replace it with a healthy liver from the donor • Reattach the bile ducts and blood vessels • Close up the incision
