Introduction Situated on Hyde Park Corner and Mayfair in the hustling and bustling city of London, Hyde Park is a tranquil oasis of natural splendour and serene, everlasting vistas of the nature that surrounds it. Opened to the public in 1637, Hyde Park is known as the largest of the royal parks in London as it connects several parks together forming a natural attraction that sprawls through central London.

  3. The Serpentine This is a must see feature at Hyde Park. It is a spectacularly large yet artificial lake. Queen Caroline, wife of King George II had the lake constructed in 1730. It is popular for boating and swimming. The Serpentine is located at the south end of the park and stretched into the Kensington Gardens.

  4. Memorial Fountain This has been described as a beautifully calming memorial and praised for its interactive qualities. Created in memorial of Princess Diana, this is a place to pay respects but also to remember the late Princess of Whales. Visitors are encouraged to put their feet into the gushing water if the weather is warm and it is meant to serve as a tranquil place to relax….

The Flora and Fauna The most important feature of Hyde Park must be its beautifully preserved and maintained flower and plant gardens. “Hyde Park provides a unique habitat in the heart of London for a diverse variety of species of flora and fauna. Positive changes in management practices have gone a long way to encourage new species into the park. The creation of the meadow area gives a flavour of how Hyde Park once looked and this area has become more diverse year on year since its creation. Have a look during the summer for butterflies feeding off the native wildflowers in the meadow.” – RoyalParks.org With its close proximity to hotels near Hyde Park, this is a great area to be situated next too as it makes for a lovely walk at any time of the day.
