Kids charities are a great thing to donate to, for the most part – but unfortunately, not all kids charities are created or operated equally. The good news is, there are charity watchdog groups that exist solely for the purpose of rating, examining and evaluating charities, including kids charities. You can use these groups as a resource when doing research on kids charities to donate to.
One of these watchdog groups is Charity Navigator, which has a failsafe financial performance metrics chart that breaks down how charity organizations spend their money. It lists the percentage of donor funds that a given charity spends on program expenses, administrative expenses, fundraising expenses and more. For example, Charity Navigator uses this chart to reveal information about kids charities that fund medical research; one of them is the Arthritis National Research Foundation (ANRF). To illustrate what the analysis looks like, Charity Navigator’s financial performance metrics chart broke down the expenses of the ANRF like this: Program expenses – 91.3% Administrative expenses – 6.4% Fundraising expenses – 2.2%
As you can see, the ANRF spends the vast majority of its donations on actual program expenses – a relatively rare thing among kids charities, and something that should definitely matter to potential donors. Since only 6.4% of funds are spent on administrative expenses and even less is spent on fundraising, Charity Navigator awarded the ANRF four out of four stars for six consecutive years in a row. That’s a great thing, and it should give potential donors confidence when they are weighing their options about donating to specific kids charities. Visit Here to know more about charity for kids. Whether you wish to give to the ANRF or another of the many kids charities that are deserving of donations, doing your research is important. You can feel better about donating to a cause that you have researched thoroughly.
