  2. World’s Visionary Women Leaders Making an Impact in 2023 Fostering Social Responsibility by Implementing Sustainable Practices Visionary women leaders are breaking down barriers by challenging gender stereotypes and glass ceilings in the workplace. By doing so, they are creating opportunities for other women to advance in their careers. These leaders are creating inclusive work cultures where everyone can feel valued and respected, regardless of their gender, race, or background. This leads to a more engaged workforce and increased productivity. Women leaders are also promoting diversity and equality in the workplace by advocating for equal pay, flexible work arrangements, and fair hiring practices. They are also creating mentorship and sponsorship programs to support the development of underrepresented groups. The cover features Kristen Poe, owner and CEO of POE Holistic Health, who thinks the world would benefit from more functional health providers and modalities to keep up with the growing demand for functional healthcare and lifestyle medicine. Kristen worked in the pharmaceutical industry, which was an interesting and fast-paced field that kept her on her toes. She traveled extensively, made lots of new friends, and won an award for being the best representative of the nation. Despite knowing she needed to change, she found it extremely challenging to take the risk because of her successful and fulfilling career. She made the decision to change her ways and adopt a healthy diet because she was dealing with poor health, nutrition, and lifestyle choices. Women leaders are driving innovation by embracing new technologies, experimenting with new business models, and encouraging creativity and risk-taking. This enables companies to stay ahead of the curve and remain competitive in a rapidly changing business environment. 9. T The greatest gift we can give ourselves is our health, and almost everything else in life depends on it. Healthcare transforms into a collaborative, patient-centered practice that prioritizes healing and prevention over symptom repression. Instead of only treating symptoms and searching for band-aid solutions, functional health takes a systems- based approach to addressing the underlying causes of chronic disease and barriers to wellness. Good nutrition and lifestyle medicine may support and improve almost every illness or symptom that exists. It's not necessary for everyone to have the agility of a tightrope walker or the stamina of a competitive cyclist. You decide what level of functional health you require to lead a more fulfilling life. Meet, Kristen Poe, owner and CEO of POE Holistic Health, who thinks the world would benefit from more functional health providers and modalities to keep up with the growing demand for functional healthcare and lifestyle medicine. worldsleaders.com | 11

  10. Accept the Flow Initially, Kristen Poe had no intention of working in the functional medicine industry. After graduating from college, she had planned to attend medical school like her father. During her junior year of college, she was given the chance to work with a significant pharmaceutical company, which completely altered her life. She pursued a career in the pharmaceutical industry after graduating from college and earned an MBA in marketing. She also had a joint ownership interest in a beauty industry business. She acquired a wealth of knowledge that she has applied to her fascinating career. She feels that being a business owner and building a practice from scratch, with a western medical and business viewpoint has been tremendously beneficial. She feels it's the best decision she could have ever made. Her only regret was that she didn't act sooner. She believes the most important lesson she learned was that it was never too late to follow your passions and dreams. A leap of faith towards growth Kristen worked in the pharmaceutical industry, which was an interesting and fast-paced field that kept her on her toes. She began a whole food diet and personal training regimen as part of her journey toward health and wellness. After a year, she soon began training for fitness competitions after a year. "I was fascinated to learn that just by eating well and choosing the right foods, I felt like a new person, not to mention achieving a physique I never thought would be possible." Kristen says. At this point, Kristen understood she had to stand back, consider what was truly important to her, and pursue her dreams. She knew she wanted to pursue a career in health and help patients improve their health and wellness. She began a protracted journey of learning functional medicine, nutrition, and naprapathy with the support of her husband and family. She opened her practice, Poe Holistic Health, in 2019 after nearly ten years of education and training. POE Holistic Health POE Holistic Health is a functional health and wellness practice that focuses on personalized Holistic Health Plans, holistic nutrition, optimal health and lifestyle management, natural chronic pain support through Naprapathy (connective tissue and fascia bodywork and Graston Techniqueã), supporting chronic conditions and 12 | MARCH 2023

  12. Core values of the company illnesses, strengthening the immune system, gut health support, nutritional deficiency and environment intolerance lab testing, health optimization support, and other non-invasive personalized holistic approaches for health and wellness. The three guiding principles of POE Holistic Health are kindness, respect, and honesty. They may appear very straightforward and obvious, but Kristen believes they are essential to success. She thinks that being kind, honest, and respectful of others is always the right thing to do, regardless of the situation. Humility is additionally essential. She tries to be as flexible and open-minded as she can, and if it would help her patients and her practice, she would be willing to step outside of her comfort zone to make adjustments and handle situations in a different way. She is always willing to let her patients/clients know if she does not have an answer to something, and will always refer them to another doctor, provider, or service who may be able to assist them beyond the scope of what she and POE Holistic Health offer. Abreast in the competition According to Britannica, the definition of "competition" is "the act or process of trying to get or win something (such as a prize or a higher level of success) that someone else is also trying to get or win." There is competition in every industry and almost every aspect of life. However, being in the health and wellness industry, there are so many people in this world, and there is truly so much business to go around. Kristen loves to partner with other practitioners, and being able to refer to other talented practitioners gives patients the best of everything for their care. Post Pandemic changes According to Kristen, the greatest way to stand out is to keep being true to who she is and what she loves, to prioritize excellent customer service, and to stay current with cutting edge technology and education. This includes providing quick and simple patient appointment scheduling, online information access, and first-rate customer service in person as well as via email and text messaging. She tries to live up to everything she supports and holds dear. As the face of POE Holistic Health, she places a high priority on feeling good, looking good, and living well in her own health and wellness journey. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 is among the biggest changes Kristen has observed, as is how exhausted many healthcare professionals are and how burdened the industry is. Kristen expresses her gratitude for Western medicine and all of its amazing providers. We are so lucky to have wonderful physicians, nurses, and specialists who show up every day and give their all to provide top-notch patient care. There will always be a need for medical services and care, which occasionally leads to a shortage of practitioners. In Kristen's opinion, there will always be a need for more healthcare professionals to keep up with the rapidly growing and changing healthcare sector. Every area of technology was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, including healthcare. In order to develop a personalized strategy that each patient is comfortable with, Kristen attempts to take the time to listen and collaborate with them. "I tell all of my patients and clients that I like to "put my money where my mouth is." I would never make a recommendation or suggestion that I wouldn't personally do for myself or my family." Kristen recommends. The availability of telehealth services, appointments, and communication is now widely available to patients. In the future, Kristen sees a world where technology 14 | MARCH 2023

  15. Setting an example for women Kristen believes that women are truly amazing and have changed the game in many different ways. Despite the fact that conditions for women leaders have significantly improved over the past few decades, statistics show that they are still not as frequently encouraged to assume leadership roles as their male counterparts. This contributes to the unequal power structures in the corporate landscape. There is still a leadership gender gap, even though women are climbing the corporate ladder quickly. Kristen believes it is important to consider the criteria that define a successful leader and to try to live by them every day rather than focusing on the qualities that may be lacking. However, Kristen believes it is crucial to prioritize work-life balance, empathy, free-thinking, multi-tasking and communication. Having a “sky's the limit” attitude, wearing several hats, being versatile and flexible and pivoting when necessary are also extremely important. Remaining modest and keeping ego in check will also always serve a leader well. To set an example for her daughters and other female leaders, she does her best to embody these attributes, which are always a work in progress. The Face Value of Vision The vision of POE Holistic Health is to continuously offer cutting-edge services, goods, nutritional supplements, lab work, and nephropathic bodywork tools and techniques. The COVID-19 pandemic served as the impetus for Kristen to grow her virtual functional health consulting business both domestically and abroad. Her aim is to expand her patient and client base by providing up to date and advanced functional health tools and options. She is also working on several commercial endeavors, such as webinars, vitamins and other items, and lab work for functional health. She will continue to carefully listen to her patients' needs, wants, and desires and to stay aware of anything that can help them on their path to future health and wellness. continues to advance, which will include patient services, treatments, medications, and procedures becoming even more state of the art and improved. Expert Talk Dr. Kristen Poe is the owner and CEO of her private practice, POE Holistic Health, in the Boston, Massachusetts area. She practices Functional Health and Naprapathy (expert in connective tissue and fascia). She is astounded by how extraordinarily busy the practice has become in just three years. She oversees daily operations, patient phone calls, emails, and enquiries in addition to acting as the primary functional health and naprapathic practitioner. In order to focus on her patients and their needs and to stay current and forward-thinking with education, technology, and services, she has begun to recruit consultants in several business sectors to assist with general day-to-day management. worldsleaders.com | 17

She promoted debt consolidation while working in sales for a credit card business. She has always been passionate about sales and enjoyed interacting with people to try to improve their financial situations. She finally started working for a mortgage broker for a while and quickly developed a passion for lending. A recruiter for U.S. Bank then called Adrianne, and the owner decided to take a chance on her and offer her a wonderful job working with a wonderful builder. It's been a great experience for her to work with them for the past 12 years. She is currently a Senior Mortgage Advisor for She truly cares about assisting customers in realizing their aspirations of becoming homeowners and creating personal wealth for themselves through home equity. Like everyone else in the field, she first struggled to establish a foothold, but perseverance over time and a passion for the sector have moulded her and the relationships she has now. U.S. Bank . Adrianne participates in webinars, business training sessions, conferences focused on developing momentum, and other learning opportunities. She strongly supports using the most up-to-date technologies, but on the other hand, she is a traditional loan officer who still enjoys sending out birthday cards. In Adrianne's opinion, a loan officer's success depends on the purchasers still receiving the personal touch from their loan officer despite the importance of technology and modern platforms in the lending industry. She claims that economics plays a significant role in the purchasing process and can be unpleasant for a new homeowner. It's critical that they have their hands held. She believes it would be great if banks could figure out a wonderful way to combine the two. A Workaholic by Nature Adrianne prefers to think of herself as someone who is passionate and driven, and who enjoys assisting buyers and sales agents with the home-buying process; most others would describe Adrianne as a workaholic. Her daily responsibility as a high-producing senior mortgage advisor is to maintain the team's and the buyers' satisfaction. Monitoring the loans as they move through the pipeline, speaking with her builders on the pipeline call, and continuing to create friendships with her sales representatives. She has also been a part of many organizations over the years, such as Soroptimist International, which is a women's helping women organization. COVID Outbreak The epidemic probably hastened the industry's use of digital capabilities. Many consumers took advantage of digital tools and had virtual experiences they would not have had otherwise. Lenders grow accustomed to employing remote workers and start utilizing team-based solutions that improve communication with clients and coworkers. Because of this, decisions should be made with the future in mind. Lenders should move right away to address issues that have already come to light and to prepare for those that are sure to arise in mortgage origination and loan servicing. The biggest obstacle Adrianne faced over her 24-year career was COVID-19. She is accustomed to face-to-face encounters, meetings, and showing her sales representatives to the customers. Adrianne adds, "The happiest part of my daily routine is when I get to call buyers and tell them they are loan approved or that their loan is closed and how happy I am for them and their families.” Work-Life Balance Beyond the workplace, Adrianne is the proud mother of a great son, Alex Hamilton, who is 26 years old, and the cutest dog, Lulu. She enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, and traveling, and she spends most of her free time doing these things. She is all about exploring new places and making the most of her free time. Struggling to strike a balance between work and family life has always been the most difficult element of her job. Being forced to pick between meetings with buyers or sales agents and being present for family. Making compromises on both sides is sometimes a requirement of having a career. Adrianne's desire to always create more for herself and her family has always come from her childhood in a limited environment. "Change is paramount in the success of our industry." - Adrianne Pozzi says. Adrianne had to conduct business and deal with the public differently as a result of the pandemic. She had to mostly use phone, email, and/or video zoom calls to explain the process and coach buyers through it. She enjoys interacting with her sales representatives, meeting with them face-to-face to discuss the business and engage in enjoyable social activities. She believes that the best friendships may be formed when people can engage both inside and outside of their job. It greatly increases the satisfaction of working with everyone. 22. B able to move without implications for her spine. This incredible result prompted Alice to want to share the method that allowed her to get back in perfect shape, regain confidence and self- esteem, and go beyond the limits she thought she had with as many people as possible. In November 2021, Alice was also recognized as a successful case study for the world of female empowerment on the stage of WomenXImpact, one of the most significant events in entrepreneurship and female empowerment on an international basis. Bright & Fit Fitness Program Feeling Great about Work Bright & Fit is a company founded by a woman for women, with the goal of allowing even those with limited time, who are unable to train in a gym, or who do not have access to fitness equipment, to train effectively for 15–30 minutes per day, without the use of any equipment and simply by using their smartphone. The contemporary and elegant native app from Bright & Fit is now available in the Apple and Google stores, giving women all over the world access to everything they need to stay fit and happy with just one click. Bright & Fit is more than a fitness program; it's a personal transformation tool that uses home training, thinking exercises, and food counselling to help women rethink their limits and recover self-esteem and a higher quality of life. Today, Bright & Fit has a team of over 15 people dedicated solely to the project, and the incredible results achieved by the program's users have prompted numerous magazines and television networks to cover Alice, including Forbes Italia, Forbes India, RAI 3, La print, Thrive Global, Yahoo Finance, California Herald, and London Daily Post. Alice's greatest ambition in everyday life is to be able to make a tangible impact on the lives of women, regardless of their physical, geographical, or socioeconomic circumstances. Her primary purpose is to help individuals live better lives, evaluate their potential, and realize that everything is possible in life. Every innovation and endeavour in the organization is guided by this goal. As a result, in June 2021, Alice launched a major charity effort called "Bright & Fit Cares," through which the firm provides practical assistance to women who are physically or socially challenged. She says, "Our first initiative was to support ANDOS, one of the most important breast cancer prevention and treatment organizations in Italy." Bright & Fit Fitness Program was developed by Alice Veglio, the first online Holistic Fitness program with medical certification in Italy. Alicefound herself immobilized with a cast on her back, which made her unable to even tie her shoes, and, thanks to the help of valid professionals; she managed to avoid undergoing a dangerous operation. After the plaster was removed from her back, Alice's life mission became to study in the best institutions and find valid tools to regain her freedom, be able to move, and forever eliminate the fear of immobility from her life. It is for this reason that Alice, together with an Economics and Marketing University degree, has many certifications in the world of wellness and health: a diploma in holistic sciences for health, a specialization in nutrition sciences at Stanford University, a diploma as a personal trainer, a yoga teacher diploma, and a specialization in bioenergetic manual techniques. A Never Ending Hunger for Betterment: Notable Achievements Bright & Fit Fitness Program has its roots in the history and life experience of its creator and founder, Alice Veglio. Alice, an Italian woman born on July 6th, 1995, has been battling a significant health problem since At the end of her studies, Alice was able to gain the right knowledge to see her body healthy, transformed, and finally 26 | MARCH 2023

  24. she was 13 years old: a diagnosis of a hazardous spinal rotation, which would have forced her to give up physical activity for the rest of her life. Alice has been a ballet dancer since she was three years old, and her diagnosis has caused her to abandon all hope for a free and joyful future. Alice's dual degree in two important fields (economics and health) piqued the interest of a number of government offices, including Dubai Carbon and the Dubai government office dedicated to green economy, where she worked as a project assistant, then as a sustainability journalist, and finally at the United Nations' WGEO office. Alice began her career as a Junior Project Manager at the United Nations WGEO Dubai office when she was just 23 years old. Despite the high levels of satisfaction she received from these significant organizations, Alice became increasingly aware of the need to be able to contribute to the world on her own terms, rather than abandoning the approach that had improved her health and physique in earlier years. As a result, Alice formally established her first start-up focused on holistic fitness and female empowerment in the United Arab Emirates in January 2019, which already has over 35,000 women registered and has generated over $1 million in revenue in its first two years. Every day, a variety of metrics are used to assess the company's progress. We aim to calculate the number of satisfied users every day, even before the turnover and the number of registered users. We are extremely proud and pleased to have a 98 percent customer satisfaction rate. Since the beginning of our operations, the number of registered users has risen steadily; our social networks have grown in size, and by December 2021, we had surpassed 35,000 registered users. Getting Big Every Day According to Alice, the organization is experiencing daily transformations in order to constantly provide the highest quality, efficiency, and technological requirements. Only three years ago, the company had three employees, ten active 28 | MARCH 2023

The company saw the need to boost production, both in terms of the number of people engaged in the project and in terms of technology, especially during the COVID-19 epidemic. Every day, the company invests in providing the highest quality material, the most advanced technology in its app, and the highest level of support to ensure that each individual who uses its services has the most beautiful transformation and growth experience of their lives. training per week, and together with all this, I have to dedicate at least 9 hours of work a day to my company, and in the remaining hours, I want to give the best of myself to relatives and friends." She further adds that it may seem difficult to do all this, but in her opinion, the secret is to be organized and make sure you get a good quality of sleep. Alice has been practicing meditation since she was 16 years old in order to get a good night's sleep. She also strongly believes in the power of the morning routine. In the first two hours after waking up, she always dedicates herself to the most important tasks and carries out all the activities that she would not be able to include during the day. in themselves and acquire the tools to live life fully and with satisfaction." She also adds, "I fight for female empowerment. I fight to implement the traditional fitness sector with the best technologies and tools and use it to help women around the world become the best versions of themselves.” Breaking the Stereotypes Alice believes that the only limits on a woman's role as a leader are those imposed by the environment around us. She asserts, "Since we were children, we have been asked what we want to do when we grow up, thus suggesting that we can only be one thing: a wife or just an entrepreneur or just an athlete." She continues, "However, what many do not consider is that we can be everything." Alice believes that a woman can be a caring mother, a loving wife, a successful entrepreneur, and a performing athlete all at the same time. Stereotypes are the real obstacles to the success of many women. She clarifies, "It is for this reason that my company and my daily mission is to demonstrate that we must not give up on our dreams and that every woman can be anything she wants to be in this life.” Combining the Skills of a Trainer and a Skilled Leader "Knowing how to manage time is a fundamental skill for having a happy and successful life," says Alice. Since her university years, in which she worked and attended two universities at the same time, she felt the need to learn how to manage her time in the best possible way. Especially now, time management for Alice is not only synonymous with being a good trainer but also being able to be an entrepreneur, an athlete, a student, a wife, a coach, and a point of reference for those who follow her all at the same time. Being a better person and example for others Everyday The meaning of success for Alice is being able to make a difference in the world, being able to leave a small contribution to improve people's quality of life. She finds success in her specific case is to fight every day to show, even though her life story and experience, that there are no limits and that every woman has an infinite potential to be everything in life. She says, "Success for me is to help as many women as possible believe Alice thinks the most significant example of her time management skills is what she is doing now. 28. I've worked in a variety of sectors and roles in nonprofits and government entities in both Vermont and Texas. Most recently, I worked for Travis County Economic Development, managing their tax incentive program for businesses that developed in the Austin region. I worked to align the program with the county's Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy goals. Tell us about the inception of the company. How did it all start? Captive insurance is an alternative risk management tool for companies and organizations. In 1981, Vermont adopted its captive insurance enabling legislation, one of the first states to do so. Since then, through numerous modifications of its landmark legislation to address ever-changing industry needs, the depth and breadth of its regulators and service providers, and the partnership and support of its governors and legislators, Vermont has become the premier domestic domicile in the U.S. and has also been recognized internationally as a domicile of choice. What has made you successful? What do you value? Vermont has become a successful domicile over the last forty years through commitment, foresight, and innovation. The support of our public officials, the strength and stability of our regulatory team, the network of captive insurance service providers, and with the largest captive insurance association in the world based right in Vermont, the Vermont Captive Insurance Association, Vermont provides the vast support captives need to thrive. Vermont's Captive Insurance Division of the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation is made up of about 30 regulatory staff members who are experts in captive insurance and have been known to be easily accessible, fair, and supportive. Below are highlights of the interview conducted between World's Leaders and Brittany Nevins: What are the company's primary services, and how does it stay ahead of the competition? As leaders of the captive industry, the Vermont Captive team is consistently recognized by international trade publications and industry peers as the most experienced and knowledgeable captive insurance regulators in the world. Backed by a unique infrastructure made up of in- house examiners and support personnel, our team works closely together and in partnership with Vermont's Governor and state legislature to make sure that Vermont's regulations keep pace with the fast-changing needs of the industry. Our team is known for having a valuable intro meeting prior to a submission for licensure where companies and organizations can ask essential questions about Vermont as a domicile. Describe who you are as a person, inside and outside of the workplace. My name is Brittany Nevins and I am the Captive Insurance Economic Development Director for the State of Vermont within the Agency of Commerce and Community Development. I market Vermont as a captive insurance domicile and recruit businesses to license their captive insurance company in Vermont. In my free time I enjoy going on long walks with my dog, working on art projects, and traveling to new places. Describe your background and what did you do before you started/joined the company? I graduated with a BA in Political Science from the University of Vermont, with a minor in Community and International Development. I received an MA in Sustainable Development with a concentration in Policy Advocacy & Analysis from SIT Graduate Institute. I also double minored in Community and International Development and Global Studies. What are the most important aspects of a company's culture? What principles do you believe in and how do you build this culture? 34 | MARCH 2023

  29. The mission of the Captive Insurance Division is to maintain a regulatory system that attracts quality business to Vermont, promotes our reputation in the industry, and safeguards the solvency of captive insurers while recognizing the special purpose for which they were created. We pride ourselves on our accessibility for companies when they are interested in licensure or have a question. We are always open to new ideas and think creatively about meeting the needs of companies. Almost every year, a captive insurance bill is passed in the legislature with input from the Vermont Captive Insurance Association and Vermont regulators to modernize our statutes to keep pace with the changing needs of captive insurance companies. without intentional and inspirational leadership. I believe Vermont has both, which has made it so successful. choice. I get to support the messages this industry tells the world, and that feels special. I also love learning about the different ways that captive insurance is utilized to fill needed gaps in coverage that allow companies and organizations to provide essential products and services to our society. For example, fighting climate change, covering specialized medical services, mitigating the effects of the pandemic, safe and quality education, cyber security, and so much more. And once you are in a leadership role spend the majority of your time in the beginning taking it all in, listening and absorbing. No matter how much you think you know about something, good leaders are constant learners. What are your responsibilities as the Captive Insurance Economic Development Director for the state? As Captive Insurance Economic Development Director, I am responsible for the marketing and business development of Vermont's captive insurance industry, working closely with the Department of Financial Regulation and Vermont Captive Insurance Association to strengthen the state's reputation as the premier onshore captive insurance domicile. Within state government, I advise Vermont's Governor and Secretary of Commerce on new captive insurance legislation and policy recommendations to assure a beneficial business environment for expansion and relocation within the state. I also work closely with Vermont's congressional delegation, monitoring policy pertaining to the regulation of captive insurance and related financial services industries. What advice would you give someone going into a leadership position for the first time? In particular, women see a leadership role and discount themselves, thinking they aren't qualified enough or wondering if they could really do the job when they might be the first female in the role. Just apply, step one. Reach out to other leaders for support and encouragement. You have a unique perspective that could bring about incredible positive change, but you never know unless you try. What is the significance of innovative ideas in the company? Captive insurance, in its essence, is a tool of innovation. When an organization or company cannot find traditional insurance to meet their needs or find affordable insurance, they might consider forming a captive. There is a common saying in the industry that "if you've seen one captive, you've seen one captive." Every captive insurance company has a unique set of needs, structures, and long-term goals. The state of Vermont has always been open to new ideas and sees the culture of innovation as an essential component of the health of the industry. My favorite part about what I do is highlighting the stories of professionals in the industry and raising awareness about captive insurance as a career Give us your opinion on; do organizations rely heavily on individual heroics or team processes? I think the success of an organization relies on a combination of inspirational leadership and a commitment to culture throughout the broader organization. Good leaders model the behavior they'd like to see throughout the organization and give the space for others to expand upon their leadership. Not only should work be shared, but so too should success. Team processes, which are very important, of course, don't achieve intended outcomes worldsleaders.com | 35
