7 Worst Men's Fashion Trends of all time From the baggy suit of the 1900s to the low waist jeans of early 2000s, history has witnessed many crimes against fashion for men. All those who say that fashion is a response to functional needs, are absolutely wrong. It is actually and has always been a response to social needs. So, it won’t be wrong to state that the trends of today will soon become the mistakes of tomorrow. Are you guilty of committing such fashion blunders in the past? Here, I’ve compiled some of the worst fashion trends that according to me were the jaw-dropping mistakes of all time. If you are still guilty of any of these, then, now is the time to come clean. Have a look. 1. Designer jeans and male leggings These were trending fashion items in the early 2000s. The carpented denim with embellished prints had a be-dazzling effect on the eyes. Things got even worse when it was later followed by male leggings.
2. Sagging trousers “Pardon me, Sir Gangster? Your trousers are descending.” This funniest quotes I’ve ever heard about sagging. This was a style-statement for many years and is still stirring up. The fans of Justin Bieber may not agree, but according to me this is one of the biggest fashion blunders of all times. The waistband of men’s underwear popping out of the bottoms has become a reason of many jokes since it’s inception. As per Wikipedia sagging pants began in the prison system. Belts are not allowed to be worn in prison. This resulted in the ill-fitted pants that ride low on the prisoner’s hips. Later the hip-hop artists adopted the look in the 90s.
3. Over-sized pants I wonder how the over-sized trousers and jeans paved it’s way into the closet? Probably, the fear of wardrobe malfunction was less in the early 90s. The funky look is not acceptable any more, unless you’re a rock star.
4. Deep v-neck t-shirt One of my friends advised me for the first time to wear them, saying that the ladies love it. Unfortunately, my girlfriend refused to go out with me that day! I understand that you need to show how hard you’ve been working out in the gym, but there are better ways to do it. Famous celebrities in these tees may intrigue you, but nothing disgusts me more than men revealing their chest hair. 5. Wallet chains It would have been a tough task to project a humble and elegant look with these chain on.
6. Socks with sandals and flip-flops This look is still going strong for adventurous vacationers and curious tourists. The sandals and socks coupled together makes the ugliest, yet comfortable duo. 7. Shutter Shades
It is hard to believe, but it was actually trending in 1980s. I don’t get the point of using it. It didn’t protect the eyes from the sun and made it harder to see. Final Say Fashion is cyclic in nature. It should not take us by surprise if these trends come again ten years down the line. As of now, I’m glad these are out!
