Lima is unbelievable Lima is the capital of Peru and its largest city. It is situated in the valleys of the Chillón, Rímac and Lurín rivers, right in the geographic center of the country. Lima, once a faint and even criminal city, is becoming much safer and its popularity increases with the rising Peruvian economy; in fact, it has become one of the leading destinations in Latin America. Ceviche, unexpectedly popular all over the world, has put the city’s unique and diverse gastronomy on the map. But Lima is beloved by many visitors not only because of its incredible culinary delights, but for the glorious old town, many museums, and the fascinating 1,800-year-old Huaca Pucllana ruins.

3. It is well-known as El Valle Sagrado (The Sacred Valley) and is located about 15km north of Cuzco. It is a region in Peru’s Andean highlands. For a long time it was the home of beautiful colonial cities which were quite separate from other towns. Today it has become a favorite tourist destination in Peru. Along with the nearby town of Cusco and the ancient city of Machu Picchu, it was the center and soul of the Inca Empire. Stretching across about 60 kilometers, it’s an area of glebe farmland and a number of Spanish colonial villages like Pisac and Ollantaytambo. Photo: depositphotos.com Nazca Lines At some point – approximately between 500 BC and AD 500 – these mysterious, quite extraordinary geoglyphs were engraved; they depict living creatures such as animals, birds, and even a human, best known as ‘the astronaut’. Their sheer size makes the paintings possible to understand only from the air. Planes and helicopters cross the desert airfield nearby, but be prepared to feel airsick as you zoom in and out.
