  2. What Should You Expect During The Postpartum Recovery Period Following A Normal Delivery? Following a normal delivery, you might face a few problems. You might need special care and support during this time. This is what you can experience during your postpartum period following a normal delivery: Vaginal Discharge And Bleeding ● Following your delivery, you might bleed for a few days. This bleeding is similar to the one you have when you’re on your periods. This is completely normal and you need not be worried about it. Problems Related To Vaginal Tearing ● If you had vaginal tear while giving birth then you might experience pain and discomfort around your vagina for a few days. It can last upto a month.

  3. Pain While Urinating ● You can also experience pain while urinating. This is due to swelling of tissues around the bladder and the urethra. You can get some relief from this if you do Kegels exercise. However, it’s suggested that you consult a gynaecology doctor before doing so. Experiencing Contractions ● You might have contractions for a few days immediately following the delivery. This is an indication of the fact that your uterus is returning to its normal size for the contraction of blood vessels to stop excessive bleeding. Hair Fall ● During pregnancy, due to the increased levels of estrogen hormone, your hair becomes thick and lustrous. However, after delivery, you might experience rapid hair fall. Though, with time, it stabilizes. Mood Swings ● After the birth of the baby, the new mother experiences frequent mood swings. During this phase, it’s quite normal to experience feelings of crankiness, anxiety, and depression.

  4. How Long Does It Take To Recover After A Normal Delivery? After giving birth to a baby through normal delivery, you will experience pain in your vagina for at least 2 weeks. About 7-10 days after the delivery, you can begin to feel a bit more normal. Though if you had perineal tearing during your delivery, you might take six weeks to recover.
