Elements of Introdcution • Interest – get their attention • Need – why are they there • Title – what is the lesson (use visual aid) • Revision – recap previous lessons • Objective – what will the lesson achieve (use visual aid) • Scope – how long will it last • Handout – is there one? 2359 (Woolton) Squadron

  5. Introduction • Sets the overall theme of the lesson • Gives students overview of topic • Should last for about 1/5 of the lesson time depending on amount of revision 2359 (Woolton) Squadron

Interest • Topic is ‘Principles of Flight’ • Don’t start by saying “Would you like to know how a plane stays in the air?” E.g. use questions to get to end result… • How many of you have been on holiday? Where did you go? How did you get there? ever wondered what keeps the plane from falling out of the sky?....... 2359 (Woolton) Squadron

  8. Interest Task: • Think of word. Write it down but don’t show anyone. • List 4 questions to get to the word you are thinking of, but they can not contain the word. Example…… • What season are we in at the moment? • Spring is cold, what could you do to warm up? • Where could you go? • Everyone there is already brown, what could you do to help you blend in? • SUNBEDS 2359 (Woolton) Squadron

  9. Need • Link this to training syllabus where possible • Or further opportunities such as FTD competitions, qualifications, opportunities within the ACO Example: You need to do rifle training so you can pass your WHT and fire the No.8 rifle. 2359 (Woolton) Squadron
