  1. Albert Einstein1879-1955 By Diego Barron & Jesus Aguilera

  2. Background • Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879 in Ulm Wurttem, Germany • He graduated from high school in 1896 • In 1905, he got his Doctorate degree and published the Special Theory of Relativity • The famous equation e = mc^2 came from the theory and solved many questions about the Universe • He died on April 18, 1955 in Princeton, New Jersey

  3. Contributions to Physics • Using Max Planck’s quantum hypothesis, Einstein was able to explain visible electromagnetic radiation, or light • In 1905, he published his Special Theory of Relativity and thought of the equation e = mc^2 • In 1915, Einstein published his definitive theory, his General Theory of Relativity • Over the years, this theory has been verified many times

  4. Contributions to Astronomy • While working on his Theory of Relativity, he came up with the idea of the black hole • This Theory has presented new ideas that no one was thinking 90 years ago, which includes black holes and recent observation in cosmology • This theory also helped us have close precision tracking for GPS • According to Einstein, gravity is a curving of space and time by the presence of a massive object like Earth, not a force pulling down
