Introduction • Music is what feelings sound like. • -Author Unknown • What got me interested in video editing? • What got me interested in video editing was I wanted to do what they did in the movies. Seeing all them special effects what got me into video editing. • What Will I be researching • The median average per year. • How much has this job grown in the past years. • Entry level education.
Nature of Work Five responsibilities that video editors do • The video editor is responsible to make the raw film into the secondary cut then finale the final production. • Before they do the finale production they do different things to the film with the directors approval . • Adding Color correction (fixing the lighting). • Adding explosions (special effects). • Adding music . • Adding/ making credits page.
Working Conditions Is video editing a Physical or mental job? Well I think editing is both Physical and Mental. The reason I think this is because some editor go to the set and tell the people where to film for cinematics and other stuff. Is video editing indoor and outdoor? Well like I said you can go to the filming but editing is mostly mental because you haft to use your mind for creativity. Hours Work hours vary with the type of operator or editor, though most work full time. Those who work in broadcasting might have to work long hours to meet a deadline. Those who work in the motion picture industry may have long, irregular hours while filming but endure a period of unemployment after their work on the film is complete and before they are hired for their next job.
Training, Qualification, Advancement What kind of degree do you need? Most camera operator and editor positions require a bachelor’s degree in a field related to film or broadcasting. Summary Yes, I’m still interested in the career field after researching it. I think that I will always be interested in this career field. The reason is because I think that It’s really exciting. You can edit a movie or a music video and see it on your t.v. or at the movies it self. I think that is just so cool. They do make a fair amount of money but when you get more up there the money will go up. This is my dream job and it will always be.
