1. Astronomy Night Friday, April 20, 2012Southern Nash Middle School7:15 pm - 9:15 pm Meet Us There! FEET- Families Experiencing Education Together • Tarheel Astronomy Club Phil Blackman and Dr. Rich Michael will begin setting up scopes at 7:15 PM. • All are invite d to enjoy watching the club set up the scopes. The scopes weigh about 110 pounds. Before the event, there will be a brief session to go over scope etiquette. • For example…no playing near the scopes, do not touch or turn knobs, ball caps need to be worn backwards when looking in scope, etc. • Sunset time for April 20th is 7:45 pm and the actual viewing would begin 30 to 40 minutes after sunset. • In case we have a cloudy night or bad weather. There will be a projector, screen, and computer set up in the gym to explore other space content. Please Note- Transportation will NOT be provided by the school. This is a family event that we would like you to share with your child. In order to plan for this night, I have been asked to gather a tentative head count for families that plan to attend.
