  2. What is MIEUX? A Joint EC-ICMPD initiative Facilitate short-term technical assistance to 3rd countries to enable them to better address irregular migration as part of a comprehensive approach to migration management 36 months Scope: Worldwide

  3. How MIEUX works • Demand driven • Peer-to-peer: • Experts from EU MS administrations • Support to relevant ministries and bodies

  4. Action requests • Channels: • ICMPD MIEUX • EC Delegations in 3rd countries • Flexible request procedure: • Written statement of interest (letter, email…)

  5. Scope of MIEUX Actions • Any area of migration management that better addresses irregular migration • Seminars, workshops, expert deployment, assessment missions, study visits, action plan development, structural and legal review...

  7. MIEUX added value • Quick reaction mechanism capable of implementation within 8 weeks of request • Supports all logistical and financial aspects related to the implementation • Flexible request procedure

  8. Opportunities / the Way Forward • Initiate, strengthen or increase Africa-EU / Africa EU MS cooperation • Initiate, strengthen or increase inter-Africa cooperation • Test new initiatives (‘pilots’) • Feed punctual needs (one-off actions) • Fill a gap between long-term initiatives
