NABARD WADI GIS MIS Important Instructions NATIONAL CENTRE FOR HUMAN SETTELMENT AND ENVIROMENT,BHOPAL
Introduction: The NABARD Wadi Programs are organized by the NGOs' with dedicated efforts to implement the Wadis. There are several Data required for activities and over-all Monitoring. Based on this data, a full-fledged MIS [Management Information System) is maintained by NABARD. The GIS form of MIS is assisted by NCHSE, Bhopal. All NGOs have to contribute the required Information and Maps to this System. It is necessary that the Data, Maps and Photographs are provided by them as per desired Quality. Lot of care has to be taken in this regard; otherwise the data subscribed by them may not be usable. Please read the instructions given in this presentation carefully and repeatedly and also keep informing everybody of your NGO staff so that they maintain the standards of Data, Map and Photographs.
MAPS: MIS GIS Needs Maps. Maps are the very first and basic item required for GIS. To prepare GIS from Maps, each of maps has to pass through steps like : - Xerox. - Scanning, - Digitization. - Data attachment. The most important thing to remember in this is that Original PRINTED Map supplied by NGOs must be of Good Quality. Now, how to know which is a good quality Map and which is a bad quality Map, please read the instructions given on next slides carefully.
POOR QUALITY MAP A poor quality map from patwari will not have any details clear. The Lines of khasrasand boundaries will not be clearly visible. The numbers of khasraswill also be not visible everywhere, Figure Shows Poor quality map ->>> Also, Somewhere you will see lot of black ink, and somewhere you will see that ink is faded and lines/text is not clear, Sometimes the Maps are folded. Folds make a line. When you get the Xerox of such maps with lot of folds and sharp seam, the lines of folds are also taken as a new line in Xerox. Some Maps may be dirty also - and all the marks and dirt will also be taken as junk-lines/objects in the Xerox. Map in pieces or pasted with tape is also bad.
GOOD QUALITY MAP: • While taking a map from Pawtari, you must accept only a good quality map. A good map has the following: • You will see clear lines and boundaries of khasras • All text and numbers printed on it would also be clearly readable throughout the map from top to bottom. • The entire map sheet would be very clean • It would be either rolled or would not have folds with sharp seam. • The inkalso will be uniform everywhere - the printed matter would look same everywhere - not like dark or faded somewhere. You will see same quality from top to bottom of map. • Remember that you have to get these maps photocopied. In such cases, all the dirt of map and the folds on original paper will also get xeroxed as a new object - as a new line or symbols. So to avoid such things, always try to get the best quality map.
This Type of Map must be avoided This Type of Map should be Used
Remember while XEROX is taken: Precautions while taking Xerox of Map: Do ensure that Photocopy of Map is taken with care - following things are important to be remembered in the process: It must be again a very clear Xerox of original - nothing must look Dark and nothing must look Fade. It must have text and khasra numbers very clear It must have all lines and boundaries also very clear No folds or seam might have appeared as new lines or objects on Xerox. The photocopy must be of same size as original's size If pasting pieces of a large map Xeroxed, then paste at edges carefully so that the matter is not hidden or overlapped, also nothing should get duplicated.
MOST IMPORTANT NOTE:If you see any lines/text missing or unclear on the Xerox, then you must compare with original Map and then write text or draw missing lines, with a pencil, accurately.
FINAL ACTION BEFORE SENDING MAPS to NCHSE/NABARD: • MARKING OF KHASRA’S UNDER YOUR WADI’S MUST BE DONE. • You must hatch the WadiKhasra’s with Pencil. • Hatch means filling the khasra’s with some pattern of lines like ////// or = = or :::::::: etc. • Try to send map as ROLL and not as Sharp folded. • Be prompt in supplying Maps. As soon as your wadis are allocated, you must approach Patwari and get a copy. Xerox it and then send it to NCHSE/NABARD.
