Design Technology ILP - Skills In Design Technology Background: Many careers use skills learned in Design Technology. These are known as, ‘transferable skills,’ as they can be used in other contexts or situations. For example, surgeons demonstrate sewing skills when they suture (stitch up) a wound in theatre. Chefs demonstrate cooking and organisational skills in their everyday work. Your task: Detail twenty different careers which use Design and Technology skills in the work. Name the career and describe how those who work in each career demonstrate the skill . You will then need to choose one career and write in detail about your findings. Presentation: Present your work using text and images. Then prepare a 1 minute presentation of your findings. You can use any media to present your work. You may want to present the twenty careers initially as a mind map on paper or PowerPoint and then the career you choose to write about in detail as a report on paper or as PowerPoint slides. You will probably find that many of the skills will feature in many of the careers and many of the careers will involve a number of different skills. Any problems - please see the teacher you have for Food or Textiles or Mrs Miller-Jones KS3 Coordinator.
