INTRODUCTION • The survey was commissioned by the Management Council To Provide information on the faculty's experience in USIU. These important in the day to day running of this university. • The study targeted the full time faculty in USIU . • A questionnaire was used to collect the data . • 48 full time faculty filled in and returned the questionnaire. • This translates to a 66% response rate.

Educational Goals for Students To what extent have the following educational goals been achieved in USIU?
Other Educational Goals Faculty mentioned other educational goals which are important to them as; • Develop understanding of national issues /values • Responsible citizenry • Develop good Communication and Writing Skills. • Application of research to real life situations • Develop a sense of self management • Develop aesthetic skills • Develop entrepreneurship skills • Develop a sense of Importance of values and belief systems • Integrity and professionalism • Respect and etiquette

More On Research • A significantly higher proportion of Faculty members with Doctorate qualification had applied for grants. • A significantly higher proportion of male Faculty members had received grants compared to Female Faculty members. • A significantly higher number of faculty members in the school of Business had worked with students in research projects than the faculty in the school of Arts and Sciences . • This could be attributed to the fact that there are more post Graduate Students registered in the school of Business. • The study compiled a list of the papers/ books the faculty are currently working on
SCHOLARSHIP Working towards an academic qualification ? • Most of the faculty who were pursuing an academic qualification were enrolled for PhD programs
Community service and others • 77% had advised students during community service • 78% had collaborated with the external community in community work. • A significantly higher proportion of faculty with a Doctorate degree had collaborated more with the external bodies to do research and teaching. • 78% had sought membership in some professional association since they joined USIU

What can be done to make or enhance the position of USIU as a Premier Institution of Academic Excellence Concerning The Faculty • Avail research grants and Encourage Faculty to collaborate more in research issues • Support Faculty to pursue Doctorate and other academic programs • Collaborate more with the government and other institutions in research • Recruit knowledge producers/ first rate Faculty • House staff / Faculty
What can be done to make or enhance the position of USIU as a Premier Institution of Academic Excellence Concerning The Students • Encourage independent thinking among the students • Instill a learning/reading culture in students • Involve students and staff in more activities locally and abroad • Encourage more research among the students • Focus more on higher order thinking • Graduate students should defend their research work

5- YEAR MILESTONES • Expand and diversify • Offer online degree programs • Open other campuses • Offer competitive DOCTORATE programs, • Introduce A diverse and competitive undergraduate/ Master’s programs e.g. Health Programs , mathematics , Communication etc
