Even though it’s more famous for its entertainment value, that doesn’t take away from the fact that it also offers a host of instructional videos from qualified instructors on diverse topics. Especially if you are a newbie learner in areas like music, dance, fitness, handicrafts, etc. then you’d appreciate the help that relevant YouTube videos would be able to provide in your learning. Here are 6 effective tips on how you can transform YouTube into your best learning ally: 1. SET UP A COLLECTION OF PLAYLISTS YouTube allows you to create personalized playlists of videos that you like. Firstly make a list of all the topics and subjects that you want to learn. Then find quality videos that expound on these topics and categorize those into their respective playlists. This way you can quickly access them any time you want without having to search for them again and again. 2. DOWNLOAD A YOUTUBE VIDEO LOOPER APP Some things are difficult to learn in one go, you might have to rewind the video a couple of times to completely get it. Learning a tricky dance move or a difficult song on guitar would be good examples of this. Don’t waste your time manually repeating the video, download a video looper app for YouTube videos instead.  3. KEEP A NOTEBOOK HANDY The more YouTube videos you will have in your learning collection, the more difficult it will get for you to remember all the information that you have gleaned from these various videos. So get into the habit of making notes for every video that you watch. You can use YouTube loop app to keep replaying the video until you’ve noted down every important point.

  3. LOOP 2 LEARN Android & iOS App 4. LOOK FOR SUCCINCT VIDEOS Whatever topic you want to learn, you’ll find a ton of videos pertaining to it on YouTube. But not all of them will be worth your time. The lengthiest video isn’t always the most helpful one either. More often than not it delivers much little value than you would expect it to. Instead of looking for all-encompassing, long videos, look for segmented, short videos that target towards teaching particular skills. 5. PARTICIPATE IN THE ONLINE COMMUNITY Think of YouTube as a collective learning platform, where you can post comments, ask questions and share your thoughts on the videos that you watch. The video instructor may even have a separate online community that you can sign up for if you want to connect more with the instructor’s teaching. 6. MAKE AND POST YOUR OWN VIDEOS So you’ve finally learned playing that difficult song on guitar. But before you go on showing off your new-found learning it’d be a good idea if you had someone assess your skill first. Record your own video of playing the song on guitar, upload it on YouTube and invite your instructor to view, evaluate and comment on it. Same can be done with other type of learning too. You can create videos of yourself singing, dancing, giving presentations and demonstrations, etc. and invite feedback on the same from instructors and peers.
