Packed Rally Program • A program of 13 Rallies planned for the season • Some new venues • A Children’s Rally to Gunwharf 21st July • Southsea Marina Rally and Treasure Hunt 26th May • Long Distance Rally 2nd-5th August • Cowes Rally 7th September • Bembridge Rally (Shepherds Wharf) 26th/27th/28th July • The Old favourites, Folly, Yarmouth, Lymington & Hamble & Fishborne.
Cruiser Rallies • All Rally booking will be online via www.portchestersc.org • Rallies will promoted via Face Book, Google Groups and Club Notice Boards.
The National Handicap for Cruisers • NHC replaces PY for Cruisers. • Recognises that no 2 cruisers are the same. • Different sail plan • Different props • Different Weights • Different crew abilities • Different number of bunks • Air Conditioning etcetc • NHC is a performance based handicap system.
The National Handicap for Cruisers • Each boat will have a Time Correction Factor (.TCC) • .TCC is applied to a boats elapsed time to calculate their corrected time. • Corrected times are then arranged in order with the shortest first to indicate race positions. • E.g Elapsed time of 1 hr = 3600 seconds .TCC of 0.849 • Corrected time = 3600 X 0.849 = 3056
The National Handicap for Cruisers • The RYA have published a base list of .TCC’s using a simple measurement formula. • Full list of base .TCC’s for the NHC can be found at • http://www.rya.org.uk/racing/Pages/NHC.aspx • Examples: Bolero 0.849 Twister 0.807 Soling 0.858 Nic 32 0.858
The National Handicap for Cruisers • All boats will start a series on their base .TCC called their Base No. • Base No. will be adjusted after each race. • Each boat starts the next series with their adjusted .TCC from the previous series • http://www.rya.org.uk/racing/Pages/NHC.aspx
Implementing NHC at PSC • PSC will “NOT” be adopting the RYA published base numbers. • PSC Base No.s based on 2012 PY Numbers. E.G Base Number for Merlin will be: 1000/2012 PY = Base number. • 1000/1003 = 0.997
Implementing NHC at PSC • We will run 3 series for the purpose of Base Number adjustment. • All races excluding evening series 1&2 and Interclub. • Interclub Series : Yarmouth, Nab Tower, Beaulieu, Cowes & Combined Harbour Regatta. • Kemp Sails Evening Series 1 & 2.
Implementing NHC at PSC • 1 Spinnaker Declaration per series. (Evening Series 1 & 2 = 1 series)
Implementing NHC at PSC • Each of the 3 series will be dual scored with RYA NHC Base Numbers & PY based Base Numbers. • Boats will start the first race they enter in each series on their Base No. • Trophies will be presented based on results from PY based Base Numbers. • Interclub Series will be Dual scored using PY Numbers & NHC base numbers.
Kemp Sails Evening Series • There will be a fast and slow handicap fleet for 2013. • Both fleets will start together on the same line at the same time. • Fast Handicap = .TCC of 0.827. and Higher. • Slow Handicap = .TCC of 0.826 and Lower. • Each course will have a Fast & Slow Variation.
Race Management • All OOD duties have been allocated to members of the fleet. • Your duty is your responsibility. • No Show = DSQ • List of Duties can be found on the Cruiser noticeboard & at www.portchestersc.org under downloads.
