Pachcha (Green) • The most character type of kathakali. • Pachcha denotes the green color that used to paint the face of the characters. It indicates nobility, divinity and virtue. • Used for gods, kings, virtuous persons who are of exemplary moral character. • The Heroes like Rama, Nala • Two types of Pachcha

Thaadi (Beard) • This make up is for cruel and evil persons. • It has three types: • Red beard (Chuvanna): for kings, like Baali • White beard (Veluppu): for virtuous, like Hanuman • Black beard (Karutha): cruel persons, like Kali
