Driving Questions: Creating Questions in Science Session 1 December 2, 2013 MCISD RR#3 4:00-7:15 p.m. 3 SCECHs This text will aid students in their development for asking questions. Participants will develop questions for an investigation and receive all materials. Come join your colleagues for an interactive science experience.
Kill-A-Watt Science Activity Session 2 January 13, 2014 MCISD RR#3 Time: 4:00-7:15 3SCECHs Measure common household electronics for energy consumption. This easily reproduced lesson could be used at any grade level. Learn about the claim, evidence, and reasoning method to improve writing.
Science Surface Temperature Activity Session 3 February 10, 2014 MCISD RR#3 4:00-7:15 p.m. 3SCECHs A story can bring to life a lesson by creating wonderment. This leads to a natural curiosity and connection between literacy and science. Participants will measure the Earth’s surface temperature using Vernier digital thermometers. Bring your IPad or laptop to experience wireless data between Vernier.
Engineering and Design Session 4 March 10, 2014 MCISD RR#3 4:00-7:15 p.m. 3SCECHs Using the book Picture Perfect Science Lessons participants will have the opportunity to implement a 5E model lesson on scientists and inventors. Participants will create and test mini-flotation devices and find new uses for water bottles.
Celebrating Science Session 5 April 7, 2014 MCISD RR#3 4:00-7:15 p.m. 3SCECHs Participants will receive an additional copy of “Picture-Perfect Science Lessons” by Emily Morgan and Karen Ansberry. This is a great session to share all of your science ideas incorporating science, literacy and technology. Stacy, Shelly, Jean, Matthew, and Tricia are looking forward to a great session of sharing and celebrating your hard work and successes as a teacher of science.
