  1. A New Year’s Day in KoreaBy: MichaelPark

  2. Does your family celebrate holiday traditions? Well we do! I think our traditions are marvelous. My family goes to my grandparent’s house, bow to our ancestors, and play traditional games (not video games). Let me tell you more about my stupendous traditions.

  3. First, we proceed to my grandparent’s house. We meet our relatives. Sometimes they buy me toys. I also play with my grandparents. I have lots of fun. Lastly I eat with my relatives and grandparents. We eat white rice and kimchi and other Korean food.

  4. Our family also bows to our ancestors. We put food on a table. It has a great amount of food on it. We also put their picture on the table. When we bow we do it for about four minutes.

  5. Lastly we play traditional games (not video games). We play a game called Yhoot nole e. First you get 4 sticks and throw them in the air. It is like a board game. It is extremely fun. The person who gets to the finish line first wins.

  6. Now you can see that my traditions are the best. We go to our grandparent’s house, bow to our ancestors, and play traditional games. We do all of this on the New Year’s Day in Korea.
