  2. Field trial in support to CMA (Activity 1) organised by JRC IES RWERwith support by the Hungarian Ministry for Environment and Water, the Serbian Ministry for Environment and Spatial Planning, the Slovak Environment Institute, the Italian Institute for Water Researchand ICPDR October 2008

  3. Comparison of monitoring methods on-site among Member State laboratories • Target compounds: • Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons • Polybrominated Diphenylethers • Alkylphenols • Sampling and analysis according to current WFD chemical guidance draft document and WFD EQS proposal October 2008

  4. 18 participants from 12 countries (2 non-EU) + 4 laboratories without sampling, only PAH October 2008

  5. Technical workshop: 1st day preparation and briefing 2nd day sampling October 2008

  6. Argus and Leanyfalu October 2008

  7. Sampling location October 2008

  8. Measurements on board • Continuous logging of turbidity + temperature • SPM concentration (gravimetric) • DOC/POC • Homogeneity measurements for PAH/PBDE/Alkylphenols • Large volume sampling Filtration/Adsorption • Large volume water centrifugation October 2008

  10. Laboratory of Argus October 2008

  11. Sampling on Leanyfalu October 2008

  12. Logistics..... October 2008

  13. The CMA on-site 2 team ! October 2008

  14. River water samples (whole procedure including sampling) River water extract (measurement with real sample matrix) Standard solutions (instrumental measurement only) 3 levels of comparison: October 2008

  15. Provided standard solutions and homogenised extracts (5 ampoules): S1 PBDE Standard in Toluene (screw cap ampoule) A solution of WFD relevant PBDE (PBDE-28, PBDE-47, PBDE-99. PBDE-100, PBDE-153, PBDE-154) and (Decabromodiphenylether PBDE-209). Concentration of single compounds is < 1 µg/ml Please note: While DecaBDE is not on the Priority Substance list, it appears to be of interest to collect further data on the analytical performance for this compound. Why encourage you therefore to report also this result. S2 PAH Standard solution in n-Nonane A solution of WFD relevant PAH*: Anthracene, Fluoranthene, Benzo[a]pyrene, Benzo[b]fluoranthene, Benzo[k]fluoranthene, Benzo[ghi]perylene and Indeno[1,2,3-cd]pyrene. Concentration of single compounds is < 1 µg/ml *except Naphthalene, as this is typically analysed by different analytical lines October 2008

  16. S3 Alkylphenol Standard solution in Acetone A solution of WFD relevant Alkylphenols: 4-tert-octylphenol (OP) [CAS no. 140-66-9] and 4-nonylphenols (NP) –mixture of isomers [CAS no. 84852-15-3]. Concentration of single compounds is < 1 µg/ml Please note: The solution contains also 4-nonylphenol monoethoxylates (NP1EO) –mixture of isomers [CAS no. 26027-38-3] and 4-nonylphenol diethoxylates (NP2EO) –mixture of isomers [CAS no. 26027-38-2]. While not being on the WFD Priority Substance list, we encourage you to report also data for these compounds in case they are included in your target list. E1 River spm extract for PAH and PBDE in Hexane This is an extract of suspended particulate matter from a total of 300 L of water from the Danube River. The particulate matter has been extracted and the extract been apportioned into ca. 40 portions of ca. 0.6 ml each. E2 River water extract for Alkylphenol in Acetone* This is an elute from solid phase extraction of river water. *The solution could contain traces of methanol used during cartridge conditioning. October 2008

  17. Current state: • Data reporting sheets have been send to participants • Participants are asked to provide results until 30.11.08 • Presentations and info will be put on Circa • Report to next CMA plenary October 2008
