Report: Radiation Levels in LHC Points 2 and 8 due to beam dumping

Report: Radiation Levels in LHC Points 2 and 8 due to beam dumping on the TEDs at the bottom of TI2 and TI8 Helmut Vincke and Graham R. Stevenson CERN–TIS–2003–013–RP–TN. TED used for TI test. High E muon radiation. Low muon and hadronic radiation. Total dose rate seen at Alice.

  1. Report: Radiation Levels in LHC Points 2 and 8 due to beam dumping on the TEDs at the bottom of TI2 and TI8 Helmut Vincke and Graham R. Stevenson CERN–TIS–2003–013–RP–TN

  2. TED used for TI test

  3. High E muon radiation

  4. Low muon and hadronic radiation

  5. Total dose rate seen at Alice

  6. Detector of interest

  7. Sv/h

  8. During the highest beam intensities (3.2E11 protons on TED) we measured about 50 uSv/h along the beam axis. The correlation factor between dose (H*10) and muonfluence is: 40 fSv.m2 Major part of detector signal is caused by muons. At PMI position we saw about 400 muons/cm2 per 3.2E11 protons

  9. Dose rate in the Alice counting rooms (non designated area during test)
