Unlocking Investment for Growth • D2N2’s flagship investment programme stimulating business growth and creating new jobs • Backed by the Government’s Regional Growth Fund and European Regional Development Fund • 6 priority sectors, but all applications that can demonstrate impact and VFM will be considered • Applications already approved will help create 160 jobs, leveraging £9m of private investment • Fund will help create more than 500 long-term jobs in D2N2 area
Successful applicants • Street Crane, High Peak, £150,000 grant – 43 new jobs • S&S Plastics, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, £56,500 grant – up to 15 new jobs • FC Laser, Ilkeston, £66,000 grant – 8 new jobs • Tommy Tucker (Worksop), Ear Foundation (Nottingham) and DC Rolfe (Staveley)
What they said . . . Danny Fantom, MD at FC Laser, said: “Without the grant from D2N2’s UI4G programme we wouldn’t have had this new machine, especially this early. It would have taken at least another 12 months before anything could have happened.”
Richard Munyard, MD, said: “Coming out of a recession is now the time to invest and winning the grant gave us a golden opportunity to take a greater leap of faith to go forward and gives us that much needed cash to invest in a larger way than we would have done.” S&S Plastics
Ear Foundation Dr Sue Archbold, chief executive of the Ear Foundation, said: “This grant from D2N2 has made the difference when it comes to this expansion happening. Without it, work on SoundSpace would not be starting in May. It has helped open doors to other funding and, backed by a sound business plan, was key to giving us the confidence to go ahead.”
