4. The school timetable • 8:50 - 9:00 Registration • 9:00 – 10:00 Lesson 1 • 10:00 – 11:00 Lesson 2 – Maths/English sets • 11.00 – 11:15 Morning Break • 11:15- 12:30 Lesson 3 – Maths/English sets • 12:30 -1:30 Lunch • 1:30 – 3:15 Afternoon session including guided reading

5. Homework Homework can consist of: • Weekly spellings/strategies • Reading (comprehension) • Tables • Revision • Research • Completing tasks • Science • Maths • English Your child will be expected to complete their homework on time and check their diaries regularly. They will miss part of/all of their Golden Time if they hand their homework in late or if it has not been completed on time.

SATs (Key Stage 2) Statutory tests for Year 6 - Provisional dates w/c 13th May Writing Test is marked internally by the school but will be externally moderated by the Local Authority Reading Test and Maths Test are externally marked The school reports a teacher assessment and a test result on the reports. This information is passed to secondary schools.

7. SATs (Key Stage 2) • Preparation for SATs/tests- Expectations- Levels- Extended writing (The Big Write) – regular practice- Reading Comprehension – regular practice- Guided reading- Booster Classes/Targeted groups (RM Maths, reading comprehension- Revision- Revision Booklets / Practice test booklets available for pupils if requested for the Autumn Term- Mental maths booklets

8. Pupil progress • There will be pupil progress meetings throughout the year • Pupils are ‘tracked’ and if they are not making expected progress we will put in systems to support your child, discuss this with you • Lessons are planned so that work is differentiated to meet the needs of your child

9. Parental involvement • Three parent consultation meetings • Termly reports for parents – progress, effort, homework • Sharing mornings or afternoons • Parent Forum • Parent Council • Friends of William Read

10. Differentiation • Pupils will be placed into differentiated groups for literacy and mathematics • Provision within the class or group will also be made for pupils who are on the SEND register or the Academically More Able register • Provision maps support specific learning and behaviour targeted support

11. Expectations of levels • Pupils who are on track for a level 4 at the end of year 6 would be expected to attain a level 3B or 3A or above at the end of year 5. By the end of year 6 they should have moved to a level 4C or above. • Pupils who are on track for a level 5 at the end of year 6 would be expected to attain level 4B or 4A or above at the end of year 5 and progress to a level 5C or above at the end of year 6.
