Self Portrait Sierra Woodall
Picture 1 – Burton Board • I took the colorful side of the board and put that in my self portrait • Added – sharpen edges filter and dust and scratches filter • I resized the board after merging all layers on it. • I used the polygonal marquee tool and layer masks to cut off the parts of the board that were blocking my arm. • I used the grain filter to make the board look more pixilated and match my photo
Picture 2 – Blade Song Novel • I cut the cover off of blank white space and put it on the board. • I used the free transform-scale option to resize it. • I added a hue/saturation layer that effected the blade song cover. • Merged to the snowboard
Picture 3 – The Pencil • I cut the pencil off blank white space and its shadow and added it to my self portrait • I used the blending options to make the pencil seem translucent. • Merged to the snowboard
Picture 4 – Sam and Dean • I cut Sam and Dean out of this photo and added them to my self portrait. • Merged to the snowboard
Collage • I merged the pictures into one layer • Added – lens blur and noise filter • Resized and used marquee tools and layer masks to cut off extra • Made a rectangle around it and merged the rectangle to the photos • I gave the sunset-sunrise photo a 180 degree rotate • I resized it again and moved it so it was over my house walls • I used the blend tool so it looked like it was hanging on the wall • I used the grain filter to make it pixilated
Picture 5 – Me and my Board • I placed the photo onto my self portrait • I moved the board I had created over my snowboard • I used the paint tools to cover the over hanging edges of my board on my clothes • I used the paint tools to get rid of any evidence that the created board wasn’t actually under my arm. • I made a copy of the photo, cut out everything but the Wii and put made the Wii a gradient shape for a rectangle of gradient. • Brought the opacity of the gradient down so the Wii was still seen
Text • I typed it, changed the font, the size, and the color, and I placed it at the top of the photo. Common sense is not so common. - Voltaire
Description of Portraying Me • I used a Burton snowboard because I love snowboarding and Burton is my favorite brand. • I put the cover of Blade Song onto my self portrait because I love reading and Blade Song is the best book I have read so far. • I put the two main characters of Supernatural, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jenson Ackles), on my self portrait because Supernatural is my favorite show. I may or may not have an obsession with it. • I added a mechanical pencil because I enjoy writing and I want to be an author as an adult. • It is mechanical because I like mechanical pencils better. The wooden ones hurt my hands and don’t look as good. • I used the photo of me holding my board because I’m the best representation of me and because I thought it would be the best looking with the board I created. • The text is a quote from Voltaire, whos quotes I tend to really like, and I put this one in because I don’t have the best common sense. • I made a collage because I didn’t want to add a bunch of stuff to the board and overcrowd it. • The snake is my favorite animal and I like it’s viciousness since I can be a little violent myself. • The bookcase because I need books to survive, as far as I can tell • The picture of Nebraska because that’s where I was born and it feels like a home to me • The ‘67 Chevy Impala because it’s my dream car and I very much have an unhealthy obsession with Supernatural • The candy because I love candy and sweets and may be addicted to sugar • The landscape because its an Alaskan landscape, my home • The roller coaster because I absolutely love roller coasters, maybe even more than supernatural. I love the height and the speed and the way my stomach feels as it goes around its track • I put the pictures of the sky in the collage because I love the sky, I love being high up and I love being in it. I like airplanes and I wish I could fly and sunsets are so gorgeous.
