  1. My Name is Mrs. RussellandI’m Your School Librarian Welcome to the West U Library! • Introducing Jonas Henry Russell. Born July 29th!

  2. I’m glad you are here. This summer we welcomed a new addition to our family, Jonas Henry. Buster is a big brother. I will be at home taking care of the new baby for a while, so Dr. M. is filling in for me this first week. Starting the second week of school, our previous librarian Mrs. Kotarba will be filling in for me until I return a little later this fall. You are in good hands!

  3. Become a Lifetime Reader! Welcome to the Library! There are 3 rules to follow: • Respect People • Respect Property • Respect Resources

  4. Rule No. 1 - Respect People This means when Dr. M., Mrs. Kotarba, or Mrs. Russell talks, you don’t. When you have permission to talk, we are quiet listeners.

  5. Rule No. 2 - Respect Property This means we take good care of books at West University Elementary School. First graders check out one book each time they come to visit, and second graders can check out two. In order to check out a book, you must return one....even if you haven't checked out your limit. To get an E on your report card, you must have good behavior and remember to bring your books back to the library. Everyone has one chance to forget their books on library day and keep an E. If you forget your books twice in one nine weeks, your grade will drop to an S.

  6. Rule No. 3 - Respect Resources This means we take good care of our computers and use them properly. We take good care of our library books and return them on time. If books are lost or damaged, the student and his or her family is responsible for paying for the book. Make sure to keep your books away from any four legged friends who might chew and in a safe place away from food and water! 7. These animals live in the library and help us watch over the books. Leave them in their special spots please, and don’t forget the rocking chair is for teachers only!

  8. How to Use The Book Drop You can return a book to the wooden bookdrop at the library desk any time of day. Please don’t disturb or interrupt if there is a class in the library. Use the bookdrop – it’s fast.
