With the success of the first system we are now moving forward on solar projects for all of Ginkgo’s 22 apartment buildings. Case study follows.

Ginkgo Investment Case Study Ginkgo Investment Fund made the switch to solar based on the mathematical realization that as soon as the solar array was turned on they had a positive property equity valuation. In essence, Ginkgo Investments evaluates all of their property investments with a valuation of 5x the annual income from the property improvement. The equity value increase of the property + 5 years worth of solar savings + the 30% Investment Tax Credit + 100% MACRS accelerated depreciation + Duke Energy Solar rebate (In NC, up to $50,000 per meter) + Property Tax Abatement - System Cost = Immediate Net Positive Investment Due to the success of these projects Ginkgo created the GinkgoGreen Initiative. This internal decision has helped Ginkgo Investments to attract a tremendous amount of new capital from many impact investors with a mission to expand the use of renewable energy.
