Multiple experience. Encourage students to work together. Listen to the students as they work Ask probing questions to help redirect students work Provide time for problem solving Consult…..don’t teach. (Data collecting)
Student defines concept Ask for justification (evidence) from students Formally supplies definitions, explanations, and new labels Use students previous experiences as a basis for explaining concepts
Elaborate (Accommodation) • Extend new concepts into new situations (H.O.T.S.) • Students begin to use formal labels • Multiple experiences
Ask open ended question. (“Why do you think….?”) Require students to use data to respond to questions. Allow students to assess their own learning.
