SCU Employability Quest Welcome to Challenge One #Collaboration April 2018
Some things to think about • What are you hoping to achieve by being part of the Quest? • Can you commit the time? Be honest! • Put all the dates and deadlines in your diary and stick to them • Please contact us scuquest@socialagility.com.au to ask questions and also to provide us with ongoing feedback. We will fine tune with your input. • Learn and master the art of teamwork – it’s essential in the 21st Century • Enjoy the Quest journey – it’s a great opportunity!
Quest Online Challenges • There is an online challenge issued after each workshop • The challenges focus on the key industry pitch project • You build on what you have learned in the workshops to prepare for the pitch • You work in your allocated teams • Each online challenge should take no more than 1 hour • You will establish your team, learn to work together and direct/motivate each other • Key objectives: COLLABORATION and SELF MOTIVATION • Key principles applied: Planning, communication, project management, research
Challenge One: Tasks to BUILD your team • In your allocated teams, get together and hold your very first meeting focused on TEAM & COLLABORATION • Prior to the meeting, set an agenda, a time and a place (max. 60 minutes) • Give yourself a team name. Imagine you are a real business pitching to the client. It will give you an identity. • Agree as a team what you all want from this experience. Make sure everyone in the team is engaged and enthusiastic. • Complete this 5-minute questionnaire to identify your team strengths. I recommend you do this together and discuss how you will work together – consider your strengths and styles http://decal.ga.gov/documents/attachments/5minutepersonalitytest.pdf • Read the brief together as a team and come up with a list of questions. Do you understand what the client is looking for? • Do some initial broad research on the client and their industry as advised in the workshop. It will help your general understanding and enthusiasm • Set regular meeting dates and times for your future team meetings. • Document the minutes above in your meeting minutes and circulate to group. Take a photograph of your meeting. You will need to upload these documents/photo to complete Challenge 1 # Collaboration.
Challenge One: TOP TIPS • In your teams set up a way of communicating. You can use email, social media, dropbox, googledocs. Whatever suits you best • Agree a date, time and place for your meeting and STICK to it • Agree an AGENDA for the meeting – key points to consider – and then circulate this to the team beforehand • Agree a person to chair the meeting: keep in on track and follow the agenda • Agree a person to take the minutes of the meeting. This is documented evidence of the meeting details and key actions out of it • Agree a person to take pictures of the meeting. You will need photographic evidence for us to assess your effectiveness with this Quest challenge • Remember: Focus on QUALITY OUTPUT – you are PROFESSIONALS! • IMPORTANT: only focus on TEAM and RESEARCH – ideas for solutions come later!
