  2. Background • Masters in IBML approved Senate Nov. 2011 • Transition arrangements for potential applicants in years 2-3 • B.A. in IBML in place for years 2-4 • Transfer to Masters based on application & criteria fulfilment

  3. B.A. Honours vs. Masters B.A. Honours - Structure: • 480 Credits • Pass all classes to go on exchange • Undertake 80 credits on exchange • Exchange requires to be at least 8 months in length

  4. B.A. Honours – The Final Year Honours Year: • Honours Dissertation in Business – level 4 • IB Core Class • Business Subject Core Class • Language Classes

  5. Integrated Masters - Structure • 600 Credits • Pass with an average of 55% & above • Undertake 120 credits in year 4 at level 4 • 80 Credits – Business, 40 – Language(s) • Exchange requires to be 1 full academic year

  6. Integrated Masters The Final Year: • Masters Dissertation in Business – Level 5 • IB Core – assessed at level 5 • Business Subject Core Class – level 5 • Language Classes – Level 5

  7. Levels 4 & 5 Differences: • Pass mark 40% at level 4 & 50% at level 5 • Length of assignments • Depth of assignments – more critical analysis required • Demonstrate detailed knowledge of subject (level 4) + detailed appreciation of wider business knowledge & context (level 5)

  8. Masters Dissertation • Pass mark – 50% • No classifications – pass or distinction over 70% • Initial Research Proposal Required • Level 5 longer in length • Level 5 – around 1/3 more in references and detail in Lit. Review • Thorough understanding of literature & research in the area

  9. Languages • End year 3 level B2 • Exchange & Honours year – end – C1 • Exchange & Masters year – end – C2

  10. Languages – C1 & C2 • C1– General fluency in language & ability to converse in different settings • C2– Fluency in language in all areas & with specific reference to 1 area – business subject • C2 Bi-lingual in all areas of language

  11. B.A. Honours in IBML • Joint programme • Strengths in one area can support weaknesses in another • Honours classification based on joint mark • Assessed across full range of subjects

  12. Integrated Masters in IBML • Dual programme • Separately assessed • Require to pass at 50% and above in ALL subjects – business & languages • No classification – pass or fail • No default to Honours – separate regulations

  14. Next Stage • Applications for Integrated Masters with exchange application • Applications will be considered at June 2012 exam board & students informed • Students on BA – 80 Credits on Exchange • Students on Masters – 120 Credits on Exchange
