  4. Weather • The condition of the atmosphere at a particular time and place. • Described and measured by temperature, precipitation and wind speed.

Climate • The long-term (usually at least 30 years) weather average for a particular area. • There are several systems for classifying climates. • Koppen system, named after its original creator, WladimirKoppen (1846 – 1940) now includes six major climate categories based on average annual and monthly temperatures and precipitation. • Tropical, dry, mild, severe, polar and highland, is identified by a letter from A to E and H. • These categories are further subdivided and may be identified by variations in precipitation ( 4 lowercase letters) and temperature (additional 6 lowercase letters)
