2. His early life Jean-marie was born in dardillyfrance in1786. He was born during the french Revolution. He liked to say the rosary every day. His school was shut down. And his older sister taught him how to read and write.

3. Seminary days He was 19 when he went to the seminary. His studies were slow and he could not learn latin. He was tutored by a 12 year old. His seminary studies were interrupted by war.

4. War days He was drafted into Napoleon's army. Jean-marie got very sick and got separated from his regiment. Therefore he became an accidental deserter. A local mayor who didn’t like napoleon’s government changed jean-marie’s name to jeromevincent and hid him at the mayors relatives house.

5. Back to the seminary He went back to the seminary and and took two final tests and failed both of them. he went back to father Balley who taught him again. a diocesan official tested him in french and he passed then he was ordained. Then father Balley died and jean-marie was moved to ars.

6. The Ćure of Ars He even tried to run away a few times. Jean-marie was shocked at the way these people acted. The church that he was pastor of was really run down. He would hardly eat and he would hardly sleep. Then every night the devil would haunt him. One time a big cross blocked his way . People would come from miles away to have confession. He would do confession for hours and hours. People would wait in line for hours.
