  1. Escuela de Guadalupe Corporate Partners Program

  2. History • The creation of Escuela de Guadalupe in 1999 was the result of a collaboration by Our Lady of Guadalupe parish, Jesuits, Sisters of Loretto and Highland neighborhood residents. In response to the dearth of quality educational options in northwest Denver, they set out to provide children of limited economic resources a high-quality education so that they may become leaders in our community.

  3. Specifically, they set out to effectively serve students who are the most at-risk for academic failure in Denver.

  4. They succeeded.

  5. In 2007, Escuela de Guadalupe will graduate its second straight class where 100% of its graduates achieved grade-level or higher in two languages across all subjects.

  6. How does that compare to the status quo?

  7. In 2006, over 50% of DPS 5th graders failed to achieve proficiency in reading (in any language). More than 70% failed to achieve proficiency in math.

  8. By 10th grade, less than one-third of all Hispanic 10th graders in DPS can read at a proficient level. • Less than 5% are proficient in math.

  9. Rigorous program that includes the expectation of grade-level or higher academic bi-literacy (Spanish/English) across all subjects Longer school day and year (51 more days per year than state mandate) Escuela’s Formula for Success
