  2. Q1: What are the trends in Bioengineering Careers? Ans: • The demand for better and novel medical devices and equipment is increasing due to aging population, new diseases, sports injuries and accidents. • Bioengineering graduates work in manufacturing industries, such as biomedical instrument development, regulatory bodies and health care industries. • Others worked for hospitals, government agencies, or post-graduated studies. • Banks also look for bioengineers who has been trained in a broad base curriculum that includes medicine to help in developing the investment landscape.

  3. Q2: What sort of jobs will medical companies offer? Ans: • Most medical companies have research and development division, regulatory affairs and also have sales and distribution divisions. • These will have opportunities in R&D technical support and service, regulatory matters, sales and marketing. • In Singapore the landscape is changing as many medical companies tap on our engineers who are good in design and product development become a major work. • As a Regional Hub, Singapore has also aligned much of the Sales and Marketing of Medical Devices here and a number of our graduates end up eventually as Sales and Marketing Directors in the region.

  4. Q3: How will the Bioengineering Curriculum prepare me for the diverse options available for me? Ans: • NTU Bioengineering curriculum is benched mark against the top 5 US universities and is one of the most multi-discipline engineering discipline in Singapore. • The training you have been given in regulatory affairs, bioimaging, biomedical sensors, biomedical instrumentations and bio-signal processing are relevant to companies in areas as diverse as from electrical to computing and health care regulatory bodies. • Good students may find the medical/hospital attachments a gate way to enlarge your vision of becoming a clinical engineer working closely with clinicians.

  5. Q4: What is the range of salaries I can expect to earn as a Bioengineering? Ans: A salary survey, conducted by Ministry of Education on NTU graduates in 2011 , indicated starting basic salaries for bachelor's degree candidates in bioengineering is close to averaged $3,000 /month. This is higher than that of the National Average which is about $2,500.
