NJ ASK Test Grades 3rd through 8thLanguage Arts Overview: • Assessed in Reading and Writing • Writing portion consisted of two writing prompts in grades 3-8 • Grades 3-5 : expository & speculative • Grade 6: persuasive & speculative • Grades 7-8: persuasive & explanatory • Reading portion consisted of narrative and informational passages: • Grades 3-5, included three reading passages • Grades 6-8, included four reading passages • Passages specific to: working with text and analyzing text
District Goals • Given effective classroom practice, early intervention strategies, and the integration of specific technology software applications; the students in grades 3-8 will achieve at a total proficient rating in language arts equal to or above the total proficient achievement rating of the DFG as measured by the NJASK for the 2012/13 school year. The achievement rating will exceed the DFG for the 2013/14 school year.
District Goals • Given effective classroom practice, early intervention strategies, and the integration of specific technology software applications; the students in grades 3-8 will achieve at a total proficient rating in mathematics equal to or above the total proficient achievement rating of the DFG as measured by the NJASK for the 2012/13 school year. The achievement rating will exceed the DFG for the 2013/14 school year.
Bottom Line Progress toward our goals has been made. We have much more to do. We need to take it to another level.
