  2. What are Piezo Crystals? Piezo Crystals are crystals which when are compressed or struck, generate an electric charge. Also, the crystal can change shape if an electric current runs through it! So cool!

  3. What are some things that use Piezo Crystals? A very popular item that uses Piezo Crystals is the electric cigarette lighter. It works when pressing the button causes a spring-loaded hammer to hit a piezo crystal, then the high voltage produced by this ignites the gas as the current jumps over a small spark gap. Another item that uses Piezo Crystals is in creating motors. An example of this is that it is used in a reflex camera to operate the auto focus system. One other thing that uses Piezo Crystals Are shoes that light up. They can light up because, since creating pressure when walking, the crystals create the charge and create the electricity for the light.

  4. What are some advantages and disadvantages?

  5. Future Goal In the medical field, people are talking about useingpiezo crystals in a material which will be used for synthetic skin when people need skin if they have lost it. Since they lost their old skin and there's no feeling, the new synthetic skin with the crystals will allow them to feel from the electric energy.
