  2. Amount of runoff There are 5 main factors that affect how much runoff there is in an area. 4. Shape of the land: steep or flat 1. The amount of rain 2. The amount of plants and vegetation 3. The type of soil 5. How people use the land: parking lot or park

  3. Runoff = erosion (usually) Rivers: large streams! Types of water channels • Rills: the running water creates little grooves in the soil Gully: a large groove Streams: a channel where water is flowing downward
