PRESENT INTERVENTIONS OF VSSS. INRODUCTION.

INRODUCTION All the interventions of the society are designed to meet the multidimensional requirements of the lower strata of the community.Decentralized and participative approach is the strategy of the society. The target community is placed at the center of all development initiatives. There is a well defined net work of numerous grass root level organizations such as Self Help Groups, Farmers Organizations, Women Organizations, Balvedies, Yuvavedies and Elders Forum. Village level development committees (PDC’s) coordinate and guide all these organizations and their activities at village level. Each and every interventions of the society is decide based on our learnings.

Balavedi and Education • Creation of child friendly learning atmosphere. • Promotion of formal and nonformal education. • Health education and medical checkups for children. • Training pre-school teachers and tuition teachers. • Opening and managing tuition centers, study centres and Resource Centres • Financial support for formal and professional education. • Talent development. • Physical training and promotion of sports.
Natural Resource Management • Implementation of watershed development programme. • Development and propagation of rain water harvesting technology. • Propagation of Ferro-cement water collection tank. • Construction of domestic roof water harvesting structures. • Organization of nature club. • Promotion of nature camps and nature studies.
Non-conventional Energy • Promotion of the use of solar lights and solar cookers. • Promotion of use of smokeless choolahs. • Development and propagation of Thapabharany. • Bio-gas from bio-degradable domestic waste.
Housing and sanitations • Construction of houses for the marginalized. • Developing and application of cost effective housing technology. • Construction of sanitary latrines. • Application of Ferro cement Technology in housing and sanitary latrines. • Support for house repairs.
Family Welfare Programmes • Save A Family Programme-A Family-to-Family Development Program whereby Poor families are supported by regular monthly assistance for a sustainable livelihood. Supported by SAFP Canada • We Share Programmes – A Family Development programme whereby We offer economic support for poor families based upon economic need and personal circumstances and who qualify the requirements of the sponsors. Supported by Sponsors in USA
Animal Husbandry and Diarying • Training to village level workers in animal husbandry. • Goat development programmes. • Poultry Development. • Piggery • Rabitry • Quail Development
Health • Promotion of alternative health care systems • Institutional service. • Preventive, curative and rehabilitative services. • Promotion of herbal medicines and drugless therapies. • Community Health Programmes.
AGRICULTURAL SECTOR • Promotion of organic farming • Promotion of Vermiculture • Promotion of seed bank • Farmers’Society-Karshaka Sangham • Soil and product testing laboratory for farmers • Campaign to production of food crops, especially vegetables and fruits.
