Welcome to My Class! My name is Mrs. Stone. I teach H English II, H Speech and Communications, and Yearbook. I am also the English Department Chair, Teacher Mentoring Team Member, a BHS Student Council sponsor, Dean 7th period. I have been on staff for 14 years at Blackman. I am a native of Tennessee, a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications, a Post-Baccalaureate Degree in English, and a Masters in Education.

Formative Assignments/Process Grades (HW, CW, Drafts, quizzes, etc) - 50% • Summative Assignments/Product Grades (Projects, Essays, Unit Tests, etc) - 50% • Extra Credit: Only if all assignments have been attempted and completed. • Missing Work: 20% penalty – Zero at end of quarter • Make-Up Assignments: 5 days upon return from absence Grading

Entering the Classroom: Don't stand in the hallway. Come in, take your seat, and begin the day's bellwork. • Tardy: Report to C7 for a tardy slip. • Absent: Check my website for assignments, take handouts from folders from the back of the room, check the calendar on the board, get an Impact pass if needed. • Impact: Passes on the counter, take a pass, sign-in or sign-out, return the pass when you arrive. • Speaking in class: Raise your hand to preserve an orderly classroom that is conducive to learning. Be respectful to others when they are speaking. Wait your turn and listen. • Leaving your seat: Do not leave your seat to recycle or throw something away, sharpen your pencil, or return an item during instruction time. Appropriate times are in between activities, during individual seatwork, before the bell or at dismissal. • Restroom: Use during class changes to decrease class disruption. If it is necessary to leave the room, choose the appropriate time, take a pass, go to the restroom, return promptly, return the pass. • Eating in the classroom: Clean up and don't be distracting.
