  1. How to How to Use “ Use “Column Column from from Example Example” ” in Power in Power Query Query In Power BI, there are a lot of features available which helps in enhancing the reporting experience. One of those amazing features is “Column From Example”. It helps a user to create a new column based on the input entered for example. Let’s have a look at, how one can use this feature in a report! So, let’s proceed with its practical implementation… 1)Now, for example we have a “Date Column” present in our Dataset in the format of (dd/mm/yyyy) ~ 01/06/2014, but our requirement is to know about which day occurs on a particular date. For this we need to do some transformations on the “Date Column” to get the “Day of Week Names”. Let me break this process… Step-1: Open Power Query Editor window, select the “Date Column” then click on “Add Column” ribbon and from there choose “Column From Example” from selection - Step-2: When we click on the blank row of “Column1”, a small window gets open which includes all the information related to “Date Column”-

  2. Step-3: Here we select “Day of Week Name” as per our requirement from the various options available and then press Ctrl+Enter to get it applied for all the rows. Lastly click on ok option available. Now, we have a new column added into our table with all the “Day Names” related to our “Date Column”. This small yet appealing feature can help us for various report requirements. I hope your purpose must have been solved now. Thank you for reading.
