  4. An Overview GAMAA’s activities primarily focus on: • leadership development within the industry • industry trade shows • sponsorship within the industry • research for the benefit of our members

  5. Member representation • Senior representation - (with Alternatives) • Members to attend a minimum of 2 meetings per year • Biennial Retreat as regular opportunity to review strategic direction and overall budget

  6. New directions Over the last ten years GAMAA has redefined its objectives to embrace the changing directions of the industry; directions that have been shaped primarily by rapid advances in technology, and the emergence of new markets and globalisation. Today, GAMAA’s key objectives relate to the advancement of the industry through a relevant and ongoing programme of leadership development and education for both our members and the industry at large.

GAMAA Leadership Programme • 2001 – opportunity identified to enhance GAMAA’s contribution to the graphic arts industry • 2006 – programme has evolved into a “leadership” orientation • Programme is aimed at middle to senior managers currently working in the Graphic Technologies and related industries

  8. Programme Components • Scholarships • Residential workshops • Mentoring

  9. Scholarship Programme – an Overview • In a four year period GAMAA has awarded 22 scholarships • The 2006 recipients were all members of JPE!!! • Programme design based on “flexibility” of study – both venue and course design

Residential Workshops • Two residential workshops held annually for scholarship recipients • Workshops are open to the industry • More than 130 industry professionals have attended the residential workshops • Developed initially with the Melbourne Business School (a division of the University of Melbourne) • Now under management of Samantha Crock, GAMAA Education Manager

  11. Mentoring • Development of a “mentoring” programme to facilitate growth of leaders within the industry • Assists students with the all-important issue of “re-entry”

GAMAA Sponsorships • GAMAA's objectives relating to education and training for the industry are primary when considering sponsorship • Sponsorship is given to those organisations who demonstrate educational and/or training components with measurable outcomes/benefits to industry participants.

  13. GAMAA Research GAMAA conducts a limited number of industry research projects designed to assist its members. In addition, students are being encouraged to contribute to the knowledge base.

  14. GAMAA Events • GAMAA is committed to bringing quality events to the Australian industry which proves both a forum for the display and demonstration of new technologies, as well as educational sessions which focus on new technological and business trends.. • Every two years GAMAA sponsors a major trade show • May 2007 - PrintEx will be held in Sydney • May 2009 - PacPrint will once again be held in Melbourne
