<br>The University of Health Sciences Antigua campus is in Dowhill, Antigua. UHSA's School of Medicine and Macedonia School of Nursing both have a distinguished history of providing a vigorous education to students of high academic potential since 1982.<br>UHSA has initiatives not found in many of the other schools in our region. Our curriculum is organ system based and allows for an integrated approach to teaching and learning during the basic science years, similar to most U.S. schools. This method of teaching allows for learning in small groups, independent study and the early integration of clinical experiences. <br>

  3. UHSA Medical School The University of Health Sciences Caribbean Medical School curriculum provides students with a comprehensive course of study that prepares students for the future. Students complete the Basic Sciences on-Campus in Antigua and the Clinical Sciences are taught at UHSA’s affiliated teaching hospitals located in the United States, United Kingdom, and Puerto Rico. Several M.D. programs are available to potential students wishing to pursue medicine including the Traditional M.D. program, BSc Leading to M.D., and combined degree M.D. programs. The goal of UHSA’s Medical School curriculum is to encourage students to become leaders in healthcare and outstanding practitioners, medical educators, investigators, pioneers in global health, or healthcare administrators.

  4. Traditional M.D. Program Each semester is 18-weeks, giving students a short break between their studies. New and transferring students may apply for January and August start dates while May is reserved for transfer students only. Combined Degree M.D. Program UHSA is excited to announce partnerships with Walden University and Benedictine University to offer UHSA medical students the opportunity to pursue both an M.D. and Master’s Degree in fields of their choice. The Master’s degree segment of the combined program is delivered online and is available only to those already. Hospital Affiliations UHSA utilizes a network of affiliate teaching hospitals where students complete their core clinical rotations.   6. Macedonia Nursing School The Macedonia nursing program is a three-year program leading to the Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN). The BSN program mirrors the curriculum standards of U.S. nursing schools and follows the guidelines of the Caribbean Regional Nursing Board. Students receive excellent training from highly credentialed nursing and other faculty. Graduates can practice in the USA and the Caribbean as well as other parts of the world. The entire program is spent on campus in Antigua. Students complete practical rotations at the Mount St. John Medical Center and other government health care facilities in Antigua. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the NCLEX examination and the Caribbean Regional Board Examination for licensure as an RN.   7. Clinical Skills & Simulation Center The Standardized Patient (SP) Program is an integral part of UHSA’s Medical Education. It gives medical, and nursing students the real-life experience necessary to develop and continuously improve their clinical skills. The SP Program employs highly trained staff to portray patients with a wide variety of symptoms and illnesses. Overview of Methods of Assessment The methods and resources for teaching and learning of clinical skills managed by the Teaching and Assessment of Clinical Skills Program should include: -Standardized Patients (SP) Examinations -Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE) -Comprehensive Clinical Skills Assessment exams (CSA) and Clinical Performance Examinations (CPX) -Computer Case-Based Examinations -Simulated Recall/Video Performance Reviews -Community-Based Preceptor ships -Multiple-Choice Questions -Self-Assessment
