Navajo Information • The Navajo came from the North in the early 1500s. • The U.S. made them move so 2,000 Navajo died in the walk. • They are closely related to the Apache. • They speak Athapascan, which is the language of some tribes in the Northwest.
Navajo Information (cont.) • The Navajo have the largest reservation of all the Indians in the U.S. • They are the 2nd largest tribe in North America. • The Navajo have 150,000 Indians.
Beliefs • They think that the first four worlds were dark. • The fifth world is what we live in now. • The first creatures were weird mist things that later changed into animals and people. • They believed that strange paintings and symbols could heal the sick.
