Book review Witi Imihaera
Characters • I feel that many of the characters could be main characters but two of them shine above the rest.
NaniMiro • Nanimiro was a old lady with a kind heart. She sadly passed away playing a game of cards with her oldest friend and enemy. She was the nicest lady in the story but when she wanted to be she could be hard.
Mrs jones • Mrs Jones was a middle aged lady who had just lost her husband as he passed away. She was a beautiful lady and all the men wanted to full the roll of her husband but she did not want them. She was very strong when she needed to defend herself.
The author • Witi Ihimaera was the author of many books. He was the first Māori to publish a novel and his first novel was Tangi but Pounamu Pounamu was his first story. He was born in Gisborne in 1944.His interest is writing and he loves writing.
Ratting • My ratting of tis book is 9.5/10 this is the ratting because at one point of the book it started to drag but after a few more pages it was back to being the great book I wanted to read in the first place.
Plot • I believe the plot to the first story was, trying to build the relationship by telling us the story of a boy and his nan. The boy was his nans most favourite grandchild but she sadly became sick, and slowly as she played her last game of cards she died. Her greatest friend and enemy placed an ace of cards on her grave. It was not a long time before she was next to her in her own grave and the grandson put more cards on there graves so he would never forget how much they loved to play cards.
