Timeline • Technical Working Group • 1st meeting in December 2009 to define scope, type and initial list of elements, focus on critical business use cases • Jan – May: multiple reviews of elements, code sets, technical specs, use cases in relation to existing sources and SEA/LEA/HE needs • May-June (and ongoing): receive comments from community at large online • June-July: review and address comments, refine standards and processes for establishing standards • August-September: last round of review & comment and release of Version 1.0 and business use cases • Sept-Dec: continued input, work with early adopters, define scope, type and list of elements for Version 2.0 – highlighting postsecondary Conversations about need for Common Data Standards: • SIF Association development of objects and interoperability standards • PESC development of standards in postsecondary standards • DQC discussion of need for standards to help with interoperability and comparability across SLDSs • NCES Forum discussion about need for common standard • USED/NCES role in Handbooks and developing voluntary standards • Gates Foundation grants to CCSSO/SHEEO to work on communication & adoption in conjunction with NCES TWG
