SEMESTER IPower Point/Impress Alternate Assignment • POWER POINT = Found on all older Agora issued computers (Microsoft) • IMPRESS = Found on all the newer Agora issued computers (Open Office) • Link to download Open Office if you need it http://www.openoffice.org/
DIRECTIONS (1 of 3) • DIRECTIONS: Using one of the two programs above you will create a “time line” of all the units we’ve covered so far this year. Even if you just started last week, this assignment was created so that anyone, regardless of length of time attending Agora, can complete it.
DIRECTIONS (2 of 3) • You will create a Power Point/Impress presentation consisting of 8 slides. Each slide will contain 3 bullet points and a picture of a topic of your choosing from each Unit we’ve covered this year (minus Unit 5 as it was our writing unit). I have created a demo for you. Please use it as a guide to help you along the way. I am leaving it up to you to decide which topics you want to use. • *DO NOT COPY THE EXAMPLES I HAVE MADE.
DIRECTIONS (3 of 3) • Here’s how it should look: • SLIDE 1: Your name, date, and add a cool design (last part is optional) • SLIDE 2: Unit 1 (one specific topic, 3 bullet point facts about that topic, one picture about that topic) • SLIDE 3: Unit 2 (one specific topic, 3 bullet point facts about that topic, one picture about that topic) • SLIDE 4: Unit 3 (one specific topic, 3 bullet point facts about that topic, one picture about that topic) • SLIDE 5: Unit 4 (one specific topic, 3 bullet point facts about that topic, one picture about that topic) • SLIDE 6: Unit 6 (one specific topic, 3 bullet point facts about that topic, one picture about that topic) • SLIDE 7: Unit 7 (one specific topic, 3 bullet point facts about that topic, one picture about that topic) • SLIDE 8: ABOUT YOU (3 bullet point fun facts about you and a picture, drawing, or something that represents you)

Where do I find PowerPoint on my computer? • Click on Start. (bottom left hand corner) • Click on All Programs. • Click on Microsoft Office. • Click on Microsoft Office PowerPoint.
Next… • Click on New Slide. • A new blank slide will show up. You can begin to write your information about your topic here. • Each time you want a new slide, click on “new slide”.
For Each Slide, you will need… • Correct and appropriate information • Text, Font, and Background that makes it easy on the viewer • All slides must contain at least 1 graphic or picture • Let’s look at a few examples….

Make sure you follow… DO… • Save your work often • KISS • Keep • It • Simple • Silly • Use pictures or graphics to help the presentation DON’T… • Forget to Save • Put more than 1 main idea on a slide • Add too many pictures or graphics to clutter your work • Have text, pictures, or backgrounds that distract your audience.
Once you are done… • Save your work AGAIN! • Click on the Office button (top left hand corner) • Click “Save As” and name your presentation.
