Warm-Up: Problem of the Day Claire has a small personal business making scented candles. Her startup costs are $200 and her cost to make each candle is$1.50. She sells each candle for $4.00 • Define variables and create 2 equations to model this situation; one for Claire’s costs and one for revenue. • In the context of this problem, what would the solution to this linear system represent?
Steps for Solving by Substitution: • Isolate one variable • Substitute expression into other equation • Solve for one variable • Substitute to solve for remaining variable • Check in opposite equation as last substitution • State solution
