There are surprising and increasing numbers of people falling into poverty
Living costs – rent, fuel, food are all increasing Wages are not going up Benefits are being affected
Traditionally from weekly church collections
But to meet increasing demand, at least once a month we have collections at Waitrose stores
Two years ago we were delivering around 25 food parcels per week to families and individuals
Now we give away 100 food parcels each week That will equal £50,000 worth of food by the end of the year We will have helped 5000 people
How do we know who to take food to? How does the food get to the people who need it?
We get referrals from over 60 agencies including Reading Borough Council Job Centre Plus; YMCA; Welfare Rights; CCA shops
People can also collect their parcels from a number of local churches
Many people have their parcels delivered to the door by our staff and volunteers
Anything that will store for some time. Tins and packets.
We are not specifically collecting Christmas Food this year Everything will help
Thank you Collection boxes will be in your tutor rooms
