Tragedy Strikes Again • The Great Chicago Fire of 1871 wiped out all of Jones’ possessions • She became involved with the Knights of Labor • Jones organized workers during strikes • She became an organizer for the United Mine Workers
She helped found the Social Democratic Party • In 1903 she led children from the textile mill in Kensington, PA to President T. Roosevelt’s house in Long Island, NY to protest child labor • She was jailed in Trinidad, Colorado because of her work with the Ludlow Miner’s strike
