Common bases are made from plastic, some made from metal or there are even some that are made from cement. A plastic base is meant to be filled with water or sand. It can be bulky vertically and does not last as long compared to metal or cement bases. The commonly shaped ‘t’, metal bases does not carry too much weight. Some models are very large and tends to trip anyone who passes by. Cast iron ones are also available and are heavier but can be more expensive. Having the same profile as a metal base, a cement base can also be smaller and more obscure yet heavier, with the option of adding in more weight on top if needed.
